Preschool Programs

The Department of Early Learning licenses child care centers and family home child care homes. For more information about licensed child care options, check out: http://www.del.wa.gov/care/about/Default.aspx.

Private preschools or kindergartens offer primarily educational programming for no more than four hours per day. The Department of Early Learning does not license or oversee private preschools. However, some private preschools and kindergartens are certified with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. To find out if a private preschool is certified with OSPI, contact: http://www.k12.wa.us/PrivateEd/default.aspx.

Other programs may be accredited through their particular program approach, such as Montessori or Waldorf programs.
