Public Records Rules

The Department of Early Learning (DEL) is developing a new WAC (Washington Administrative Code) chapter 170-01 describing:

How to request public records kept by DEL. The state Public Records Act, RCW 42.56, says each state agency should adopt procedures for requesting public records.
How DEL is organized. The same law requires each agency to put this information in rule.
How to find lists of certain information (indexes) required by law, such as final orders in DEL administrative hearings.

When will the rules be adopted?

We plan to circulate a preliminary draft of the new rules for informal public input. Later, DEL will file a formal proposal, schedule public hearings, and take written comments on the proposal. Final adoption is planned for mid-2010.
