Public Records Rules

The Department of Early Learning (DEL) is developing a new WAC (Washington Administrative Code) chapter 170-01 describing:

  • How to request public records kept by DEL. The state Public Records Act, RCW 42.56, says each state agency should adopt procedures for requesting public records.
  • How DEL is organized. The same law requires each agency to put this information in rule.
  • How to find lists of certain information (indexes) required by law, such as final orders in DEL administrative hearings.

What is happening now?

Proposed rules were filed on January 4, 2012. DEL welcomes public input on the rules. The comment deadline is February 13, 2012.
