Public Records Rules
The Department of Early Learning (DEL) is developing a new WAC (Washington Administrative Code) chapter 170-01 describing:
- How to request public records kept by DEL. The state Public Records Act, RCW 42.56, says each state agency should adopt procedures for requesting public records.
- How DEL is organized. The same law requires each agency to put this information in rule.
- How to find lists of certain information (indexes) required by law, such as final orders in DEL administrative hearings.
When will the rules be adopted?
We plan to circulate a preliminary draft of the new rules for informal public input. Later, DEL will file a formal proposal, schedule public hearings, and take written comments on the proposal. Final adoption is planned for mid-2010.
