Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program
In partnership with Clover Park Technical College, the Department of Early Learning funds the Early Childhood Apprenticeship program, which combines classroom studies with on-the-job training under the supervision of a journey-level craft person or trade professional. The program produces certified child care specialists and education paraprofessionals.
Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program provides three categories of apprentices and hours of related supplemental instruction (RSI) for those enrolled in high school or who have a high school diploma:
- Child Care Assistant/Associate I
- 144 hours RSI, 2,000 hours of employment
- At least 16 years old
- Child Care Site Coordinator/Associate II
- 288 hours RSI, 3,000 hours of employment
- At least 18 years old
- Educational Paraprofessional
- 432 hours RSI, 6,000 hours of employment
