DEL issues new guide for parents on choosing child care

OLYMPIA – Choosing child care is one of the most important decisions many parents make. The Department of Early Learning (DEL) today issued a new guide to help parents find the right child care arrangement for their families.

“Every family has different priorities when seeking child care,” said DEL Director Jone Bosworth. “We created an easy-to-use guide that acknowledges that diversity, while giving parents some general tips on how to find and pay for licensed child care in our state.”

“You Have a Choice! A Guide to Finding Quality Child Care” includes:

  • Tips for starting the child care search;
  • A checklist for parents to use when visiting child care sites; and

  • Information about getting help paying for child care.

The guide is available here. Hard copies can be requested by calling 1.866.482.4325.
